FAQ’S about Cosmetic Acupuncture

Q. Is cosmetic acupuncture safe?2019-01-15T01:30:18+11:00

A: Yes.

All practitioners have at minimum a bachelor degree and are all registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).

Q. Does cosmetic acupuncture hurt?2019-01-15T01:23:31+11:00

A: Not usually.

We use special cosmetic acupuncture needles that are designed to push the skin apart rather than cut through it. This allows for a virtually painless insertion. There may be a small pick with insertion, which disappears immediately once the needle is in place.

Q. How does cosmetic acupuncture work?2019-01-15T03:20:14+11:00

A: Cosmetic acupuncture boosts collagen and elastin production, giving your skin support and elasticity with an overall firmed, tightened appearance.

Full details can be found on our How it Works page.

Q. What does cosmetic acupuncture treat?2019-04-02T06:36:40+11:00

A: In our clinic we use cosmetic acupuncture to treat:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Sagging and loss of elasticity
  • Preventative anti-ageing
  • Pigmentation and uneven skin tone

More details about our approach to treatment can be found on our What We Treat page.

Q. Are there any chemicals involved in cosmetic acupuncture?2019-01-15T01:23:04+11:00

A: No, absolutely not.

We pride ourselves on providing chemical free, all-natural treatments to our patients.

Q. Can anyone have cosmetic acupuncture?2019-01-15T01:22:58+11:00

A: Precaution must be taken with:

  • Pregnancy
  • History of migraines/headaches
  • Needle phobic
  • Blood thinning medication
  • Haemophiliacs
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Previous cosmetic surgery

This is not an exhaustive list. It’s best to discuss all health concerns with your practitioner prior to commencing treatment.

Q. Can I have cosmetic acupuncture if I’ve had Botox?2019-03-26T23:37:37+11:00

A: Conditions apply.

Botox works by freezing the muscle so it doesn’t move to prevent wrinkles. Cosmetic acupuncture works by boosting collagen and elastin production to reduce the visibility of wrinkles.

Essentially, cosmetic acupuncture does the complete opposite and will undo the effects of Botox.

Cosmetic acupuncture can be performed safely on areas that have been treated with Botox. We advise waiting three (3) months after having Botox to commence cosmetic acupuncture.

If you have had Botox within the last three (3) months, cosmetic acupuncture can still target other areas of the face that haven’t been treated with Botox.

Q. What can I expect from my first session?2019-03-26T23:39:54+11:00

A: Prior to the commencement of treatment, your practitioner will conduct an extended consultation to establish exactly how they can help.

During this consultation, your skin will be assed using our specialised Facial Zoning Assessment.

With all these details combined, your practitioner will design a treatment that’s tailored exactly to your cosmetic needs. From there, treatment can commence.

Your treatment will consist of facial acupuncture, body acupuncture, and a sealing treatment.

From start to finish, the duration of this treatment session is 90 minutes.

Finally, at the end of the session we send you home with a complimentary welcome pack as a gift from us to you.

Q. How often do I need treatment?2019-04-17T03:07:24+11:00

A: To achieve maximal effects, a series of treatments are essential.

After the first session, your practitioner will be able to evaluate how you respond to treatment, to then determine how many follow up sessions will be required to help you achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

You can find out more about treatment timelines by visiting our Timeline of Results.

Q. How can I prepare for my cosmetic acupuncture treatment?2019-03-26T23:41:46+11:00

A: We recommend that you attend all treatments with a fresh clean face that’s make up free. This is to help us see exactly what we’re working with.

We also recommend that you wear loose and comfortable clothing so you can sit back and relax during the treatment process.

Q. Are there any side effects or down time involved with cosmetic acupuncture?2019-01-15T01:20:27+11:00
