A: Yes.

All practitioners have at minimum a bachelor degree and are all registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).

Q. Does traditional acupuncture hurt?2019-01-15T01:50:48+11:00

A: Not usually.

Acupuncture needles are designed to push the skin apart rather than cut through it. This allows for a virtually painless insertion. There may be a small pick with insertion, which disappears immediately once the needle is in place.

A: Traditional acupuncture is a gentle and safe treatment that uses acupuncture to restore flow and movement to the body. By stimulating muscle fibres, blood flow and energy pathways, it can be used to relieve pain, restore movement, unblock blockages and nourish deficiencies, restoring homeostasis and balancing yin and yang energy in the body.

A: In our clinic we use traditional acupuncture to treat:

A: No.

Precaution must be taken with:

  • Needle phobic
  • Blood thinning medication
  • Haemophiliacs
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • History of seizures

This is not an exhaustive list. It’s best to discuss all health concerns with your practitioner prior to commencing treatment.

A: Prior to the commencement of treatment, your practitioner will conduct an extended consultation to diagnose your imbalances and establish exactly how they can help.

With all of these important details, your practitioner will design a treatment that’s tailored exactly to your health care needs. From there, treatment can commence.

Your treatment will consist of body acupuncture, and at the discretion of the practitioner, other treatment techniques which can assist with your recovery.

From start to finish, the duration of this treatment session is 90 minutes.

A: To achieve maximal effects, a series of treatments are essential.

After the first session, your practitioner will be able to evaluate how you respond to treatment, to then determine how many follow up sessions will be required to help you achieve powerful and practical results.

Q: How can I prepare for my traditional acupuncture treatment?2019-01-15T01:44:29+11:00

A: We request that you bring along any recent scans or lab reports that are relevant to your condition to help us establish exactly what we’re working with.

We also recommend that you wear loose and comfortable clothing so you can sit back and relax during the treatment process.

Q. Are there any side effects or down time involved with traditional acupuncture?2019-01-15T01:43:47+11:00

A: With every successful procedure, there’s always a chance of side effects. The most common side effect for traditional acupuncture is bruising, which in our experience, only occurs for a small percentage of people.

There is no down time involved with traditional acupuncture. We do however, advise rest for the remainder of the day, as its common to feel relaxed and rested post treatment.

A: An initial consultation and treatment runs for the duration of 90 minutes.

All return consultation and treatments run for the duration of 60 minutes.

Q. What do I do after my treatment session?2019-01-15T01:42:15+11:00

A: Thankfully there is no down time involved with traditional acupuncture treatment. After your session it’s completely safe to return to your daily activities, within the parameters that have been set out to you in regards to your condition.

We do advise rest for the remainder of the day, as its common to feel relaxed and rested post treatment.

Depending on treatment techniques used in your session, your practitioner may then need to outline additional advice. This is done on a case by case basis.

A: Changes to your condition will begin to occur after your very first treatment.

Depending on whether your condition is one of an acute or chronic nature, major results will occur at different times.

A: Results can vary depending on how well you take care of yourself during and after the treatment process.

With proper maintenance treatments to support the wear and tear of daily life activities, traditional acupuncture results can last for months, even years.

A: Yes.

Acupuncture is covered under item number 103 and 203.
